## New Features Released: Learning due dates, closed book exams and more!

## March 14, 2014 – Release Notes

On Friday, March 14, 2014 a number of new features were released to all users. It may be necessary to clear your local browser cache to ensure no stale files exist. The new features are: 1. Exam assignments now include an “allow open book” preference, 2. Lesson, SIMbook and resource assignments now support due dates, 3. The Let Me Try feedback dialog is now movable, 4. SIMbook assignment details page in the Student Portal now includes an image of the book cover.

### Allow Open Book Exam Preference

The allow open book exam preference allows instructors to prevent (or allow) access to all learning material while an exam is in progress. The default setting is *off*, so all exams are closed book. To allow an open book exam:

1. **Edit** the exam assignment you would like to allow open book:
2. Select the **Class\*\*\*\*Assignments** or **StudentAssignments.**
3. Select your class and click **Edit**.
4. Select the **allow open book** preference
5. Click **Save**.

If a student attempts to open a lesson, SIMbook or the Library they will be blocked and have the option to either view the exam information or launch directly from the notification. The blocked screen looks like this:
