Notice posted March 24, 2025.
Microsoft has announced that security updates and technical support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 will end on October 24, 2025. To ensure your courses remain secure and fully supported, SIMnet will sunset course solutions for Office 2016 and 2019 on December 31, 2025.
This means Office 2016 and 2019 content in existing courses will work until December 31, 2025. However, SIMnet will not allow Office 2016 or 2019 content to be added to courses after August 1, 2025.
We encourage you to transition to Office 2024 or Office 2021 this Fall to continue enjoying seamless access to SIMnetβs latest platform features, enhanced content, and improved accessibility tools. With new accessibility standards taking effect in 2026, now is the ideal time to upgrade and provide your students with the best possible learning experience.
Our team is here to support you every step of the way. Please contact your learning technology representative for assistance transitioning to SIMnetβs latest course content.
As SIMnet administrators and instructors open SIMnet, they will see the following notification regarding Office 2016 and 2019 content:
As of August 1, 2025, no new class assignments will be allowed for Office 2016-2019 content.
As of December 31, 2025, Office 2016-2019 products will be disabled, and all class and student assignments will be removed. Please visit the help site for details.
Although assignments will be removed, grades for those assignments will still be available.
Lessons, Exams, SIMpaths, and Projects that use 2016-2019 content will have an alert icon before their title. Hovering over the icon will reveal the same notification as above:
