# Release Notes for April 20, 2018

### **Access**

Microsoft Office 365 released an update with changes to Importing files into Access. The following projects have updated instructions based on the changes:

**Access 2016 In Practice – Ch 1 Guided Project 1-2**

*Original text*: 6 a. Click the Excel button \[ External Data tab, Import & Link group] to launch the Get External Data – Excel Spreadsheet dialog box.

*Updated text*: 6a. Click the New Data Source button \[ External Data tab, Import & Link group] select From File and then select Excel to launch the Get External Data – Excel Spreadsheet dialog box.

**Access 2016 In Practice – Ch 8 Guided Project 8-1**

*Original text*: 5a. Click the Excel button \[ External Data tab, Import & Link group]. The Get External Data – Excel Spreadsheet dialog box launches.

*Updated text*: 5.a. Click the New Data Source button \[ External Data tab, Import & Link group] select From File and then select Excel to launch the Get External Data – Excel Spreadsheet dialog box.

*Original text*: 8. a. Click the Text File button \[ External Data tab, Import & Link group]. The Get External Data – Text File dialog box launches.

*Updated text*: 8.a. Click the New Data Source button \[ External Data tab, Import & Link group] select From File and then select Text File to launch the Get External Data – Text File dialog box.

**Access 2016 Skills Approach – Ch 4 Skill Review 4.2**

### **Excel**

**Excel 2016 In Practice – Ch 2 Guided Project 2-3** – The instruction text for step 6a is corrected.

*Original text*: Click cell B13. The beginning balance is the total cost of the loan.

*Corrected text*: Click cell B13. The beginning balance is the loan amount.

**Excel 2016 In Practice – Ch 4 Guided Project 4-3** – Alternate instructions have been added to the instructions for using the Advanced Filter option.

\[ Alt Icon ] In some versions of Office, the above instructions to create an Advanced Filter may not work. If you experience this issue, complete instructions 6. a-e as listed below, then continue with instruction 6.f-l above.

1. Create an Advanced Filter.
2. Click the Criteria sheet tab.
3. Type >Dec 2016 in cell A3 to find records after 2016.
4. Type mri in cell B3.
5. Type >Dec 2014 in cell A4 to find records after 2014.
6. Type ct scan in cell B4. This criteria will find records dated 2017 or later for MRIs and records for CT scans after 2014.

**Excel 2016 In Practice – Ch 6 Independent Project 6-5** – An alternate answer string for the Comma style with zero decimals is added to the grading.

### **PowerPoint**

**PowerPoint 2016 Capstone – Level 3 Creating a Company’s Presentation** – Due to a recent update for the Mac version, the Retrospect theme is no longer available with variants. The project has been updated to use the Badge theme.
