## Campus Preferences

![The Campus Preferences View](https://1264989499-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-M4GBugFNVBpEGB3lmhB%2F-MKf92LdMERQUZ6BXDhs%2F-MKfA09rLHf_Jd0JJ1mY%2FScreen%20Shot%202020-10-27%20at%201.47.19%20PM.png?alt=media\&token=ffbf5f7a-80fb-4a1f-86d4-048b3e742770)

Campus preferences are the default settings for each course in a campus. These settings may be overwritten at the course level but will be the standard option for each course.

### :arrow\_down: 1. Sorting

Sorting determines the order in which courses are displayed. The default setting is to order by *Due Date*, so that students can prioritize their assignments by what is needed next. The other options are to sort by *Start Date*, *End Date*, *Title*, or *Custom Order*. The *Custom Order* option means that the order that is set by adding assignments in the Organizer view will stay in place. Date-based options can be sorted in the *First to Last* or *Last to First* Directions. *Title* can be displayed in alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order. *Custom Order* is sorted by *Custom Order*.

*Showing unavailable Assignments* will allow students to see assignments that have not reached their start date or are passed their end date. This option will not supersede any Date Restrictions for course materials in the **Date Restrictions** section.

### :computer: 2. Display Type

SIMnet can display assignments in multiple ways. Display by *Tiles* is the default SIMnet view. Each assignment has an individual tile, color coded by assignment type. The *List* option displays every assignment as a single list. The *Calendar* display shows a monthly calendar with each assignment on the calendar organized by Start, Due, or End-date. Checking and unchecking each option makes it available to students. You may select all options but need at least 1 selected. Select the **Default** radio button option that corresponds with the desired default view.

### :bar\_chart: 3. Segment

The Segment option allows zeroing in on a limited subset of course assignments. The default option is to display *All* course assignments. This option will show all assignments that meet the criteria set up in the Sorting section. The *Overdue* option displays assignments that have passed their Due Date but not their End Date. The *Due Soon* option displays assignments that are nearing their Due Date but have not yet passed it. The *Submitted* option displays assignments that have already been submitted.

You can select any or all of these options by checking the corresponding **Enabled** check mark. Select the **Default** radio button option that corresponds with the desired default view.

### :date: 4. Date Restrictions

Date Restriction options refer to the Start and End dates for each course set up when you :point\_right: [Create Classes](https://help.simnetonline.com/manager/classes/create#5-class-availability). If your *Class Available From* date and time is in the future, the **Restrict enrollment before start date** check box will keep students from being able to enroll in the course before the start date. You may alternatively elect to allow students to enroll in the course by leaving the *Restrict enrollment before start date* check box blank. If you allow students to enroll in the course, you may stop students from viewing assignments before your course begins by selecting the **Restrict viewing of class assignments before the start date** check box.

Courses that have an End Date set, and while that End Date is in the future can have the two End Date based Date Restriction preferences applied. Select the **Restrict enrollment after end date** check box to keep students from inadvertently enrolling in a course that has ended.

Select the **Restrict viewing of class assignments after the end date** check box to keep students from re-accessing their course materials after the course has ended. Restricting the viewing of class materials will not keep students from being able to review their SIMbooks after the course is complete.
