D2L Brightspace deep assignment deployment from SIMnet to Canvas.
Note: You must have at least one module created in your D2L Brightspace Content for the SIMnet assignments to deploy to. Click and drag the assignments on the left panel into the respective D2L Brightspace Modules in the right panel to deploy the assignments to D2L Brightspace.
Deep Integration - Instructor Course Copy/Relink
The Assignment Relinking Process is generally a one time process. The purpose of relinking is to update the internal pairing links that SIMnet uses to communicate with your LMS assignments. When you copy a LMS class the assignment links point toward the source SIMnet class, the SIMnet relinking process will update these assignment links to match your current SIMnet class.
Warning: You may use the relinking process to push or pull dates to and from SIMnet and the LMS after your first relink. However, be sure not to overwite your work by prematurely pulling in data from the LMS to SIMnet.
Please review the steps below for Blackboard.
Note - This may be completed by your LMS admin or course coordinator. If you need assistance with this step, please reach out to your LMS admin.

To re-link your assignments using the LMS assignment title, points, and dates click Relink Pull. This process will relink and update the SIMnet assignment title, points, and dates to match values in the LMS
To re-link your assignments using the SIMnet assignment title, points, and dates click Relink Push. This process will relink and update the LMS assignment title, points, and dates to match the values in SIMnet.
Note: Blackboard users - If your school’s Blackboard is managed-hosted or self-hosted, it needs to be on the Q4 2019 or newer version of Blackboard for the relinking to work. If your school’s Blackboard is on SaaS, then it will always be on the latest version of Blackboard and relinking will work.
Pair your LMS course with your SIMnet Instructor or Administrator account for MH Campus Deep Integrations.
Registering for SIMnet directly from your school's Learning Management System (LMS) is simple one time process.
Note: These steps only need to be completed once to setup the connection between your LMS account and your new SIMnet account. Further logins from your LMS will go directly to SIMnet.
Locate and click on the McGraw Hill Campus link, SIMnet assignment, or SIMnet link in your LMS to start the process.
1. Log into your Canvas account and navigate to your Canvas course.
2. Locate the McGraw Hill SIMnet link in the left navigation menu and continue to step 4. If the link is not available continue to step 3.
3. In your Canvas course click on the Settings (A) option in the left navigation menu, click on the Navigation (B) tab, select the McGraw Hill SIMnet (C) item and drag it into the appropriate location within the list of navigation items, and click Save (D).
4. Click on the McGraw Hill SIMnet link in the left navigation menu.
3. Click on the Authorize button.
The URL subdomain is prepoplulated with the most common URL associated with your schools LMS identifier. Some schools may have multiple SIMnet URLs, so please confirm or correct the SIMnet URL where your class is taught.
You will be prompted to either create a new SIMnet account or sign in with an existing SIMnet account. Depending on your school's setup, some fields may need to be input to complete the registration. Click Create Account or Sign In to complete the pairing process.
Note: You can only pair your LMS account to a single SIMnet account. So, if you have both a SIMnet Administrator and Full Instructor account we recommend pairing to your SIMnet Full Instructor account. To login with your Administrator account you can still login direct to your schools SIMnet URL.
Note: The create new account option will create a SIMnet Full Instructor role type.
Select your SIMnet class below or create an existing SIMnet class.
Warning - You must copy the SIMnet section that was paired to the LMS section you copied in step 1. Copying a different section will cause the relink process to fail because the new SIMnet section won't contain the same assignments as the original LMS section.
Note - This may be completed by your LMS admin or course coordinator. Otherwise, steps can be found here.
Note - Pairing instructions for your respective LMS can be found here.
Automatically copy, deploy, and pair your classes in a simple 1-step process.
Success: Canvas, D2L, and Blackboard Deep Integrations support auto, copy, and pair (ACP).
Auto, copy, and pair (ACP) is a learning management system (LMS) integration technology that supports the automatic provisioning and deployment of classes in SIMnet based on a pre-configured master class. ACP is available for all Canvas, Desire2Learn, and Blackboard assignment level integrations through McGraw Hill Campus.
Note: At this time, Blackboard integrations do not automatically deploy assignment links into Blackboard.
Ensure your LMS has the assignment level McGraw Hill Campus application installed and configured.
Create a parent class in your LMS.
The parent LMS class should not contain any students.
The parent LMS class may contain non-SIMnet assignments and content.
The parent LMS class title will be used as the section title in the auto-created SIMnet class.
Create a parent class in SIMnet.
The parent SIMnet class should be closed and not contain any students.
The parent SIMnet class title will be shared with all child classes created through the ACP integration.
Configure your class, assignments, and gradebook for the SIMnet class.
Pair the parent LMS class to the parent SIMnet class through the non-ACP pairing process. This needs to be done by the LMS admin.
In the parent SIMnet class, deploy all SIMnet assignments to the LMS parent class through the Integrate area in the SIMnet Course Manager.
Copy the “ACP Master Config” setting in the Edit/Assign or Snapshot area of the SIMnet parent class. Only copy the acp_master_section_id=xx.xxxxx portion.
Paste the SIMnet ACP Master Config in the McGraw Hill Campus application configuration for parent LMS class.
In your LMS, copy the parent LMS class for each child section you will need in SIMnet.
On the first visit to SIMnet from each child LMS section, the ACP process will automatically create a copy of the SIMnet parent class, pair the child class, and deploy all assignments to the child LMS class.
To ensure the best results, create a new SIMnet parent class each term to modify any assignment or gradebook settings prior to the creation of child classes.
Tip: By default the ACP flow will perform a "Relink Push" to send the assignment details from SIMnet to the LMS upon auto-deployment.
Tip: You may override the default Relink Push behavior to Relink Pull by adding ",Pull" to the end of the ACP Master Config. For example acp_master_section_id=79,15432,Pull
Warning: Depending on your LMS and school permissions you may need an LMS Administrator to complete some steps.
The following logic is used when creating a SIMnet course with ACP:
The SIMnet class title is set to match the source class title in SIMnet identified by the acp_master_section_id setting.
The SIMnet section title is set based on the context_title from the LTI launch initiating the ACP flow.
If the above class title + section title combination doesn’t result in a unique title, then the following alternative section title is used
The SIMnet section title is set basedon the context_title + (context_label). We use context_label from the LTI launch initiating the paring flow
If the alternate class + section title doesn’t result in a unique title, we cancel ACP and send the Instructor through the manual pairing flow.
Students may receive an Invalid Assignment: "This assignment is either invalid or access has not been properly configured by your instructor " when accessing an assignment from the LMS.
Students may receive the following error message when accesing an assignment from the LMS. This issue typically occurs when the LMS course has been copied and the SIMnet assignments are still linked to the 'original' or 'parent' SIMnet course the LMS course was copied from.
This error may also occur because the SIMnet assignment has been removed, but the linked assignment on the LMS remains intact.
Delete the assignment from the LMS.
Redeploy the assignment in SIMnet.
To resolve the invalid assignment error you may need to relink your course assignments. If you only have a couple of your SIMnet assignments with the error, you can also manually redploy the assignment by:
Removing the assignment deployment in SIMnet.
