Creating a SIMnet or Testbank Exam
Click the Create link in the Exams section to select options for a new exam.
Expand the Type menu, and select one of the seven exam types listed below:
SIMnet Exam - Scenario A - An exam made up of questions from the Scenario A exam question pool. Simulated questions that mirror Let Me Try activities in SIMbooks and Lessons. These questions may cover all or part of a Let Me Try question and use separate data from the Let Me Try questions and Scenario B questions.
SIMnet Exam - Scenario A Template - An exam made up of Scenario A questions that is available for copying but cannot be assigned directly to a class.
SIMnet Exam - Scenario B - An exam made up of questions from the Scenario B exam question pool. Simulated questions that mirror Let Me Try activities in SIMbooks and Lessons. These questions may cover all or part of a Let Me Try question and use separate data from the Let Me Try questions and Scenario A questions.
SIMnet Exam - Scenario B Template - An exam made up of Scenario B questions that is available for copying but cannot be assigned directly to a class.
Test Bank Exam Template - A test bank exam that is available for copying but cannot be assigned directly to a class.
Test Bank - A grouping of questions with similar objectives that can be used to create Test Bank Exams. A custom set of objective based questions.
Note: SIMnet exams may also contain test bank questions.
Type a name for the exam in the Title box. The name must be unique within your SIMnet system.
Click a radio button to select SIMnet content for Microsoft 2016 applications or Microsoft 2019. You can only add content from one or the other, and choosing here determines which you will be adding from in the next step.
Warning: Once a content type is selected, it may not be changed later.
Click the Next button to save the exam and continue to the next page.
On the Questions tab, you can view the available list of questions by Textbook, Module, Exam, or Template. Click the radio button for the view you want.
The Textbook filter option displays all available questions for the selected textbook. If you want to further filter the list of available questions, expand the Chapter list, and select a specific chapter.
The Module filter option displays all available questions for the selected module or application. If you want to further filter the list by Microsoft exam objective, expand the MOS list, and select a specific objective.
The Exam filter options allows you to add questions from a previously created exam.
The Template option allows you to add questions from a previously-created exam template.
In the Available Questions list, click the questions you want to add, and then click the Add button. You can select multiple questions at once by holding down the Shift key and clicking (to select a block of contiguous questions) or holding down the Ctrl key and clicking (to select noncontiguous questions). As you add questions to the Assigned Questions list, SIMnet saves the exam automatically.
At any point while adding questions to an exam, you can preview a Question by moving your mouse over the question icon and then clicking the Preview Question button.
Use the Top, Bottom, Up, and Down buttons to reorder questions in the Assigned Questions list. When you reorder questions, SIMnet saves the new question order automatically.
In the Assigned Questions list, the Weights button allows you to determine the scoring weight of each question. Click the Weights button to display the Edit Question Weights window with a list of assigned questions. To change the weight of a particular question, click the up or down arrow in the Weight column and then click the Save Weights button to continue.
Note: Exams that use the Random Question Limit option cannot use the Weights option. This is because the Random Question Limit means that questions with different weights will cause different random exams to have different point values. To edit the number of points in an assigment, use the Exam Assignment Preferences.
Test Bank Exam - An exam made up of objective questions from a specific test bank. See the Test Banks section for more information.
To assign the Exam to a class and/or an individual student click the Class Assignments or Student Assignments tab to create the assignment(s). See the SIMnet Exam Assignment Prefs section for more information.
