# Overview & Navigation

Take a quick tour of the new experience and learn how to navigate each area.​​

### Navigation Menu

After logging in to SIMnet, you will be on the Courses list and see the left-side navigation options. If you collapse the menu, all options remain fully accessible no matter where you are in the experience.

#### **1. Courses** <a href="#simstudent" id="simstudent"></a>

If you are logged in as an admin, you will have the option to view My Courses, which are courses you are an instructor in, or All Courses, which is all courses in the account. Instructors will only see their courses in the list and widget numbers.

The Courses Summary widgets give you an overview of information across all of your courses. Clicking on the widget will take you to a corresponding report with details.

Available Courses will show you a card for each course that you are an instructor in. You can click into the course or click on one of the quick links to immediately access the Snapshot, Assignments, Gradebook, or Student View.

You can create a course, import courses and sections, and view and manage archived courses.

#### **2. Users** <a href="#simstudent" id="simstudent"></a>

As an instructor, you can view and manage all students for the account.

As an admin, you can also view and manage all instructors for the account.

The Users section allows you to view the profile of each user, access user reports, manage the courses that a user is associated with, and create or import new users.

#### **3. Content** <a href="#simstudent" id="simstudent"></a>

The Content menu opens to a submenu of all of the available types of SIMnet content including Lessons, SIMbooks, Exams, SIMpaths, Projects, Resources, Templates, and Test Banks.

#### 4. Reports

Reports takes you to My Reports, a list of the reports that you have previously created and saved.

From there, you are able to Create Reports as needed.

#### 5. Help

Help gives you immediate access to the in-app help application. It will provide contextualized suggestions based on where you are in the application, but you can also search as needed.

There are also links to additional information such as our blog and change log.

#### 6. Resource Center

The Resource Center is a place where you can view Announcements, Training Links, Guided Tours, and provide Feedback about your experience.

#### 7. Classic Experience

New accounts will not have the option to go to the classic experience.

Clicking Classic Experience will take you to the classic instructor and admin experience where you can perform actions for your courses. Once there, you will be able to select New Experience in the left navigation to return to the new experience.

#### 8. Admin Settings

Admin Settings are an important part of managing an account in SIMnet. SIMnet administrators have access to all courses, users, content, and reports across their entire school or URL. Only administrators have access to account level settings in SIMnet.

#### 9. Library

Clicking Library will open a new tab where you can view all SIMbooks that are available to you.

#### 10. Profile & Logout

Hovering over your name will activate a submenu to access your profile information and the logout button.

Profile includes your personal and login information, permissions information, and access to change available settings.

Logout will log you out of the SIMnet application.

### **Technical Requirements** <a href="#simnet-technical-requirements" id="simnet-technical-requirements"></a>

Since SIMnet is 100% online there are very few actual requirements to run SIMnet successfully. Be sure to run the [Systems Requirements Test](https://mheducation.simnetonline.com/sp/requirements) to ensure optimum performance.

Project assignments have additional software requirements depending upon whether your students are using SIMnet for Office 2021 or 2024, Office 365, or Office Online. Project assignments require that the user's Operating System Region is set to English (US) or English (CA).

Many SIMnet users access SIMnet via Mac or Chromebook. Some users access Microsoft Office content, like the Access application via Windows Virtual Machine.
